I don’t know if this specifically drove Adlet to that— the way he was talking, if we got something wrong at some point there might’ve always been a chance he’d act this way. Causing a situation to “get things right” and catch a ‘real culprit’.
I’m not saying I agree with it, but I don’t know if it might’ve been inevitable or not. The chance of getting a case wrong was always high, but—
I don’t know. Maybe I thought this was something we’d have to deal with much later on, when people had been around each other more and formed stronger friendships. But trauma-bonding is pretty powerful.

I think we can only take it a week at a time, Ryuki. Trying to figure out everything else going on here is a high priority, and maybe if we make progress on that we can find a way to stop whatever’s happening every week. Because not doing anything and hoping it won’t happen isn’t working.
We're not supposed to get a case wrong. This is everything I studied and worked to do. It's the one thing I have to do.

I can't keep saying that, Tama. I can't just live off of "we'll do better next time", or "it's okay to make mistakes", or "we can't do anything about it, so why not move on".
We’re not dealing with a normal case, Ryuki! It’s not like a systematic killer who has an M.O. and leaves behind similar evidence or has a staple, signature way of killing. We’re going in blind every week with no idea what we’re going to find, and we have our backs against the wall because we know we’re on the world’s most ridiculous time limit with the worst penalty available if we figure it out or even if we don’t!

No, we’re not meant to get it wrong. And I’m hoping we never do again, because that week was a mess and maybe this week served to hammer that home even harder. And I’m not saying we move on, but driving yourself to the point of despair focusing on what we did wrong will only narrow your field of vision.
It’s balance. And we need that here. It’s knowing what we did wrong and knowing what we did right and making sure we change or replicate what works and what doesn’t. And… I know people will want to protect the people they care about. I know people won’t want to condemn someone they love. But, this week wouldn’t have happened if we’d had done better that second week.

I talked to Mr. Reigen. About whether what Adlet said was true or not, and heard his side of the story. I was right to be suspicious about his cigarettes showing up on the toxicology report, Tama. He killed Yae Miko.
Isn't that funny, Tama? [ He says, finding it absolutely not funny at all. ] I told him if that many people believed in him then there must be something good in him that everyone is seeing.
After the fact, I wondered if we’d got the wrong idea with the cage and the fencing. We jumped to something cruel, but what if he was trying to keep her locked up so she couldn’t kill him? And then maybe no one would have to die. Not that it worked out that way.
People care about him. I understand that. But I struggle when it comes to caring about him to the point of condemning someone else because they ‘don’t like them’. That’s not justice. If someone did that for me, I’d be furious.
[ she frowns, and it’s a little bitter ] I wish people had moved on and kept looking, instead of doubling down on defending him. That we’d been more systematic. Then maybe we could’ve found who killed Satan — but would we have liked that answer? Maybe it would’ve been worse.
