Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see anyone hurt.
But it's difficult to muster up the desire to go out of my way for a group of people who'd happily gawk at our deaths on television if they decided we deserved it.
At this point, I'm only in it for the...going home and getting all my powers back aspect of this. The people are crazy if they think we actually want to help them at all after that.
It sounds like they don't know what happened yesterday. I might need to ask around a bit, but it could be whatever happened yesterday was part of a "closed court" and all they know is a hero killed someone.

Sounded like it. But anyone who just takes that at face value even when we try to point out there's more to it than that? They're just...stupid. Or they don't care.

Or they don’t want to believe otherwise. If a system’s been working for you, and you’ve experienced something that makes you think it’s necessary too… you might not care about the intricate details.

There was this shady guy in the crowd — I don’t know how much I want to believe everything he says, because he was definitely looking to stir up trouble. But he did say something happened a while ago to necessitate this kind of public display. “Necessitate” in the eyes of this government, at least.
